Our History

Garrett College Preparatory Academy & Lil’ Smarties Preschool officially began in the home of Cecil and Marsha Garrett in June of 2007 with a total enrollment of five children. It began with the simple unction for Mrs. Garrett to educate her four young children at home and it continued to grow from there. Total enrollment grew to eight children including infants, preschoolers and school aged children before the 2007-2008 school year was complete. Before the 2008-2009 school year began Garrett College Preparatory Academy had grown to ten children. By 2009, we were at an enrollment of twelve which remained our enrollment count for the 2009-2010 school year. In 2010 our home / school was destroyed by flood waters and marked condemned by the city. We operated GCPA & Lil’ Smarties Preschool out of 25% of our home for one month as parents trudged through muddy grounds to drop off and pick up their children for care and academics.

By the end of the 2010 school year, we found a small 850 sq ft building located at 809 SE Douglas in Lees Summit. We were located there for one year, 2010-2011, before a mysterious fire destroyed 90% of our property including furniture and school resources. A portion of our 2011-2012 school year was spent looking for a location to house GCPA & Lil’ Smarties which we ultimately ended up renting space from a church in KCMO. We rented space there for two years, 2011-2013, and continued after that in our home for an additional 3yrs. During this time, we were approved as a 501 C3 non-profit organization in May of 2013. After we could no longer use this space for child care and schooling, we moved to another in home KCMO location and were there for 11 months. In November of 2016, we found a building that would be perfect for GCPA and Lil’ Smarties Preschool located at 11301 Hickman Mills Dr. KCMO, 64134 and changed our name to Noble Academy, officially separating the Elementary School from the Preschool in March of 2020. We began here with an enrollment of 15 children and are expected to outgrow our location max of 60 children.
